WORDS vs THOUGHTS

Someone left a comment on a Facebook post, which was in regards to a YouTube video of Nahko Bear’s, Black As Night, where the song says, “I am no master, I know nothing, but I am a servant and I know something.”  The person who left the comment did not like the word servant; he said I am no ones servant.  I commented back that I don’t think that’s what Nahko meant when he wrote this song.  Meaning, I am a servant to all that is living; I am a servant to the Earth; if I see someone in need, I offer my service to assist.

He said, all the same words are powerful and he didn’t like the song, because of that one word.  I gave him a thumb up, because yes it’s true that words are powerful.  But what’s even truer is the thought behind the word.

Take for instance when I call my dog a turd, I’m not saying she’s a worthless piece of shit.  I’m playing; being playful.  There’s nothing sinister at play here.  There is no negativity associated with the thought.  The dog isn’t offended.  Actually, she’s a real clown.  Very mischievous!  She loves to play.

If I call my wife an asshole, because she’s clowning around, she doesn’t get offended.  Now if I called her asshole out of anger because I didn’t agree with something she did, it would be a different story, she would be angry.

Recently a friend described me as someone who is into healing.  Healing is like a tree limb branching off from the trunk; it is only one aspect of mastering your own thoughts.   And that is what I’m into.  The human mind is a powerful instrument.  And it has been proven many times over that what you think and feel has a huge affect on your life.  Your health included.

This past summer I was a student learning how to separate my ego from my spirit.  I’m still learning of course.  Again, recognizing your ego is another branch of the tree to learning to master your thoughts.

Anyway, it seems to be working for me.  I’ve come a long way since I had that surgery back in December that turned my life upside down.  I’m happy again.  I feel I’m vibrating at a higher frequency.  All is good.  I love life!  Still, I know I wouldn’t be as happy today if I didn’t make that conscious effort to control my thoughts.  Life is a lesson, and I am a student, as well as a servant.

I ME MINE

This past Labor Day Weekend we had a party.  We live in Florida, did not put our swimming pool up this year due to some medical issues.  So to keep it cool, while we cookout and party outside, I came up with a game.  Everyone was asked to bring their squirt guns and water blasters to the party.   Next we had to come up with an idea to give people a reason to get wet.  So we thought of a word that is used often, and came up with the word, “I.” To make it even more interesting I added the words, “Me, mine and my,” to the list of forbidden words.

We had a blast!  Not only was it fun, but we all learned that these words are used quite often in our society.  Most indigenous societies do not know these words of possession.  They use words like we, us and ours.  They do not think in the singular, but instead their thoughts are in regards of the community as a whole.

So today we challenge you to make it your mission to replace these words of possession (I, me, mine, my), with the words that represent your household as a whole (we, us, ours).  Please feel free to leave comments.
