COLOR HEALING - (Part 1) The Chakras

Color plays an important role in our physical, mentally, emotional and spiritual well being.  Color dances in the landscapes, and flows through people, culture and language.  How many times have you read or heard someone say, “His face was red with anger?”  Or black as night?

There’s even a theory that we are drawn to the color of the clothing we chose to wear for today; that we feel a need to have that particular color in our life.  There are even certain periods of our life’s, or seasons, where we are more drawn to a color.  I know in the winter time, I am more prone to black and navy blue, but in the summer, I love bright colors.  Color sets the mood.

The fashion industry uses color as a marketing tool, by telling us it is proper to wear earth tones in the autumn and pastels in the spring.  Realtors suggest using neutral colors when preparing your house for the market.  When choosing a color for this blog, I choose black for a background, because black is mystical, it symbolizes death and rebirth; like the birth of a new thought.

Color is a property of light broken down into different frequencies.  Every frequency or color has the ability of impacting the various energies of the human essence.  Take for instance the Chakra System.  For those of you who do not know what chakras are, it is a Hindu tradition.  Chakras are elusive energy points along the spinal column.

Red is the color of the root chakra.  Vibrations related to the root charka would then be transferred along the nerve pathways to the organs closest to it.  Since the root chakra is located at the base of the spine, the areas affected would be vertebrae, rectum, anus, sex organs, legs, and anything else attached in that area of the human body.  It is the center of life promoting energy.

The spleen chakra is above the root chakra, at the first lumbar of the spine. Its color is orange.  It also impacts the reproductive system, in addition to the muscular system.  The organs influenced by this center are the spleen, kidneys, bladder and pancreas.  The keyword here would be detoxification.

The color of the next chakra, the solar plexus chakra is yellow.  This chakra impacts the stomach, gall bladder, liver, adrenal gland, and the digestive system.  It is also linked to the left hemisphere of the brain and psychic energies.

The color of the heart chakra is green.  It impacts the circulatory system, as well as the immune system.  It is also linked to the right hemisphere of the brain.  It is the center of higher love and healing energies.

The throat chakra is next, and its color is blue.  It influences the throat, esophagus, the mouth, teeth, thyroid and digestive tract.  It can be stimulated for greater abundance in our lives and increase our telepathic abilities.

The color of the brow chakra is indigo.  It is linked to the eyes, ears, sinuses and the face.  It impacts the pituitary gland and the endocrine system of the body.  This area can open your spiritual vision and is inner connected the imagination and creative visualization.

And finally, the crown chakra; its color is violet.  This chakra aligns us with the higher energies in the universe.  It influences the functions of the nervous system, and the skeletal system, as well as the pineal gland.

The colors of the Chakras are the colors of the rainbow (Roy G Biv = Red, orange, yellow, Green, Blue, indigo, violet). Part 2 of Color Healing will be posted soon.  Until then, enjoy this guided meditation below and clear your chakras.
